  WHAT PARENTS HAVE TO SAY

36 HOURS of love through #Centre gives

WHAT:
Centre Foundation's  36-hour online fundraising campaign,  #Centre Gives.
State College Friends School has been invited to participate the this annual community event benefiting local non-profits.

HOW IT WORKS:
  • Donations made online during the 36-hour #Centre Gives event, Tuesday, May 8th, 8:00 a.m. through May 9th, 8:00 p.m., will be stretched further by a $200,000 stretch pool provided by Centre Foundation.  (You can learn more about the Foundation here).
  • Any time between 8:00 a.m. Tuesday and 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, make a gift to benefit all students of  State College Friends School by going to the #Centre Gives State College Friends Schools' custom page:
             Centre Gives (https://centregives.org/organizations/137-state-college-friends-school)
  • Your contribution to State College Friends School goes further when it receives a boost from the Foundation.
  • We get to keep track of our incoming gifts as the event progresses and keep folks posted through phone calls and social media.
  • At the end of the event, we share the news of how much was raised to benefit our student community.

TIP: If you haven't yet made your 2017-2018 Annual Fund gift, please consider doing so during this event.  Your gift (of any amount) will go even further to support Jr.K through grade 8 student scholarship (financial assistance) and  programming. If you have already made a gift to this year's Annual Fund and can stretch to contribute a little extra, we'd really appreciate that too.  Here's the link: https://centregives.org/or…/137-state-college-friends-school

Friends School Receives Outpouring of Gifts during 36-Hour Event
May 2017
For the first time ever, State College Friends School qualified as a participant in the annual fundraising initiative #CentreGives, sponsored by Centre Foundation.  This time-sensitive event provides a vehicle for qualified local non-profits to raise money for their organizations.

Beginning on May 9th at 8:00 a.m. donations to benefit State College Friends School began showing up on the #CentreGives website. By 5:00 p.m. on May 10th, the total amount raised was approaching the $20,000 mark. Shortly before the close of the event at 8:00 p.m., families, friends, alums, and neighbors had spread the word through email, face-to-face conversations, and social media, resulting in a last minute flurry of contributions bringing the closing total to $20,200 to benefit all students of State College Friends School.

“We were skeptical at first,” said Head of School Dan Hendey, “because the concept seems too good to be true, and we didn’t have the staff resources to dedicate to the event. But thanks to the efforts of our director of advancement and some really sharp volunteers, we were able to put a successful campaign out there.”

“To be able to raise over $20,000 in 36 hours in our first year of participation is nothing short of amazing,” added Hendey. “We owe a great deal of gratitude to our families, friends, and neighbors who contributed to the school; they really did the work and for that we are truly appreciative.”

Tuesday, May 8th, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
This is a really big day for us.
We hope you'll give your support.
Thanks.
School projects 2017: Parents, students, staff, and members of the board of trustees clean up the gardens and construct a stage, gaga ball court, and a shed. These and other improvements and enhancements  were funded in part by Teacher Sunna's 2/3 classroom, school families, and a grant from Friends School founders Sheri and Dayton Coles.  Your gift to State College Friends School during #Centre Gives helps us to offer a rich independent education to a diverse community of learners.
