Incoming Head of School

The State College Friends School Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Pierre Puget as the next Head of School, beginning on July 1, 2025. The decision to invite Pierre to serve was made after a collaborative and thorough search, incorporating feedback from all constituents of the school: families, teachers, staff, middle school students, and trustees. We are grateful to all who participated and placed their trust in the search committee and process. Pierre began his educational career as a teacher and quickly moved into leadership roles. He brings many years of experience providing leadership for independent schools around the world, including in France, Chile, Mauritius, and the United States. He was most recently Deputy Head of The Awty International School, a K-12 school in Houston, Texas. His leadership style emphasizes open communication, collaboration, and a focus on student well-being. He has also consulted widely for independent schools on key issues such as pedagogy, brand awareness, fundraising and development, and strategic planning. He holds a Bachelor in Engineering from Aix-Marseille University (France) as well as a Teacher of Engineering and Head of School Certification from the French Ministry of Education. After years of leadership positions in larger schools, Pierre wants to be at a smaller school where, as he articulated in his application letter to the community, he “can have a more direct and meaningful impact on students’ futures.” This led to his interest in State College Friends School. Pierre is excited to learn more about Quaker education and strongly feels in alignment with the values of Friends schools. In his letter to the community, Pierre wrote that he is “particularly drawn to the Quaker emphasis on fostering intellectual curiosity alongside social responsibility and a commitment to peace” as well as to “SCFS's commitment to nurturing a diverse and inclusive environment. I believe that every student deserves to feel valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.” We look forward to welcoming Pierre and his family to our community and school. |
