Small Classes, Big Discoveries!

At State College Friends School, the Middle School experience is designed to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. In our small, collaborative community, every student is known, valued, and supported by teachers who understand their individual strengths and needs. Personalized attention allows students to take ownership of their education through meaningful, individualized experiences that honor their unique interests and goals.

Each student creates a personalized Individualized Learning Plan, developed in partnership with dedicated teachers who serve as mentors and guides. Together, they chart a roadmap for academic and personal growth that reflects each student’s strengths, passions, and aspirations. Learning at SCFS reaches beyond the classroom. Students engage in hands-on projects, internships, and community partnerships that bring real-world relevance to their studies. These opportunities encourage them to explore their place in the world and apply their learning in authentic, impactful ways.

Throughout their Middle School journey, students curate portfolios and exhibitions that celebrate their growth, creativity, and achievement. They also embrace leadership and service by mentoring younger peers and contributing to the broader community, while cultivating empathy, collaboration, and a deep sense of purpose.

Through individualized growth plans, they achieve mastery across academic areas and bring their learning to life through capstone projects and real-world internship experiences. Each student curates a dynamic portfolio that highlights creativity, leadership, and personal growth, while meaningful community service fosters a lifelong commitment to civic engagement. At SCFS, middle schoolers don’t just prepare for what’s next—they’re equipped and inspired to lead it.
