Welcome to State College Friends School!
For the past 40 years, State College Friends School has offered a vigorous educational program grounded in the Quaker testimonies of equality, integrity, and stewardship. Our building was designed for students to feel at home while at school, offering plenty of space for interactive, hands-on learning and a comfortable environment in which to learn and grow.
At SCFS, academic success is supported by small class sizes and individualized teacher attention for each child’s strengths and growing edges. The Quaker belief that there is goodness within everyone shapes our focus on nurturing the whole child. In addition to developing skills in investigation, analysis, and quantitative reasoning, our social-emotional curriculum invites each student to practice conflict resolution, creative problem solving, collaboration, and empathy. Following the social witness and peacebuilding traditions of early Quakers, students at SCFS learn to reflect their values in daily actions through service learning in the wider State College community and in mediating conflict with their peers. At State College Friends School, you will find a strong sense of community among teachers, staff, families, and students (PK-8), working together toward the long-term success of each child. We hope you will visit us soon, whether in person or virtually. SCFS is an inspiring place to grow. |

S.P.I.C.E.S - Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship. These six values have been the guiding light for our whole family over the last seven years. As a Friends School family, our children's everyday lives are shaped by those six values. It is beautiful process to witness.
The Friends School staff has encouraged our kids to be critical thinkers, to challenge the norms, to be individualists, to help others, but most importantly, to be kind and respectful to one another. In a world full of so much dark chaos, the Friends School's inner light shines bright. They are helping to develop children who will change the world."
