Pre-K After School Child Care Staff - For Immediate Hire
State College Friends School is seeking child care staff for our Pre-K After School program. Prior experience with Pre-K aged children (3-5 years) is preferred, but not required. Pre-K child care is offered Monday through Friday from 3:15 - 5:30 p.m. The hourly rate for this position is $10-$12/hour.

State College Friends School is seeking substitute teachers for Pre-K through 8th grade classrooms. Prior teaching experience is preferred, but it is not required. Rates are as follows:
Lead Teacher ($50 for half-day subbing; $100 for full-day subbing)
Assistant Teacher ($40 for half-day subbing; $80 for full-day subbing)

Head of School - to start July 1, 2022
State College Friends School (SCFS) is seeking an Head of School to begin no later than July 1, 2022. Located in scenic central Pennsylvania just minutes away from Penn State University, SCFS is an independent Pre-K through 8th grade school that serves students from several surrounding counties. For the past 40 years, State College Friends School has offered a vigorous educational program grounded in the Quaker testimonies of equality, integrity, and stewardship. These values shape an academically stimulating and inclusive school community in which our students can develop a sense of confidence and agency in their world.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Head of School will oversee school operations for approximately 100 students in seven multi-grade classrooms guided by seven lead teachers, several assistant teachers, three administrative staff and two part-time staff. They will be responsible for guiding the work of faculty and staff, advancement of the school through enrollment and development efforts, ensuring the upkeep of the school building and grounds, and strengthening the school’s relationships with members of the wider State College community. The Head of School, in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, also ensures that decisions at the School are made in a financially sound manner. SCFS is currently undertaking a comprehensive strategic planning process, and the Head of School will also play a pivotal leadership role in implementing initiatives that will maintain the School’s long-term vitality.
A successful candidate will bring experience in progressive education at the primary and intermediate levels in addition to effective administrative and managerial skills. The ability to work with faculty and staff collaboratively and build mutual trust and respect with the community will be crucial to the Head of School’s work. Experience in an independent school setting is desirable. While familiarity with Quakerism is preferred, all applicants should be willing to embrace, embody and clearly communicate the Quaker testimonies which are at the heart of the school.
