Practicing Peace at Friends School

PictureMiddle School visits with Seven Mountains Media's Jason Crane on International Day of Peace. Jason interviewed the students and enjoyed a behind-the-scenes- look at his studio.
“Peace Testimony at Friends,” produced by Greg Feinberg as a parting gift to the school upon his daughter Lilian’s 8th grade graduation tells a story of our Middle School adventure downtown to spread some peaceful greetings and cheer on International Day of Peace.

This 20-minute film also looks more deeply into the peace testimony found throughout the Friends School curriculum, culture, and core foundation.

As a Quaker (Friends) School, the testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship are the guiding principles of our PreK/Jr.K to Grade 8 program.  To read the accompanying article, please enjoy the latest issue of A Friendly Voice.

At first I was nervous and I thought I'd be embarrassed, but the more I tried to talk to people the easier it became; I realized people are surprised when a complete stranger says, 'hello,' with a smile.  That made me feel kind of sad and like I wanted to bring a friendly smile and word to a lot of people. That's a first step in make peace."
