SCFS #GetOutside CHALLENGE

Seeking Sponsors:
SCFS "Get Outside" Challenge

In honor of Earth Day, we invite friends to get out into the natural world - running, walking, hiking, biking - from Saturday, April 24 through Sunday, May 9. The “Get Outside” Challenge is great way to invite friends to support the SCFS Scholarship Fund, too.

After registering as a student or an adult, participants ask folks to sponsor them by making a donation through the Friends School Centre Gives platform. Donations can be per mile or as a lump sum.

Who can I ask to sponsor me in the "Get Outside" Challenge?
  • Classmates, colleagues, or co-workers
  • Family members
  • Neighbors
  • Friends
  • Local community members or folks in far-flung locations!

How do I ask someone to sponsor me?
  • Phone call
  • Email
  • In-person
  • Video message

What do I say when I ask someone to sponsor me?
  • Click here to download a sample letter. You can copy it word-for-word or adapt it to make it your own!

How will sponsors know how far I went?
  • Follow up with them on May 10 to let them know how many miles you logged during the two weeks.

How will sponsors pay their pledges?
  • Sponsors can click here to pay their pledges through the SCFS Centre Gives webpage on May 11 and 12. This will help stretch pledge funds further!
  • Sponsors can send pledge funds to the participant or the participant's parent/guardian and ask them to make an equivalent gift through the SCFS Centre Gives webpage.
