State College Friends School Goes to the Penn State Arboretum

It was a partly cloudy day when the State College Friends School went to the Penn State Arboretum on Arbor Day. Students in grades Kindergarten to eighth grade eagerly exited the buses and began the field trip with singing about how important the planet is. After singing a few favorite songs, including “I am the Earth,” the school separated into groups. We explored the Arboretum by going to different stations around the area. We learned about how our water level is decreasing. We also learned how to tell the age of a tree by counting the rings on the inside of the tree. The field trip helped us to more deeply understand some of the lessons we learn in our classrooms.  By Klara Gawlowicz, 5th grade

Camp Blue Diamond

Every year at the end of May, our school goes to camp blue diamond on a field trip. We all get there around 9:00 a.m. we camp out in cabins (or tents if you want). we get dinner breakfast there so we don't have to bring our own, but we do have to bring our own lunches. we all do fun activities and learn exiting games. we even roast marshmallows. some of the most popular activities are swimming in the lake and playing with friends. we all leave around 12:00 p.m. the next day. going to camp blue diamond is one of the best experiences in the world!

The View of a Play

Every year at Friends School every class does a class play. Mine was just recently and I got the heebeegeebees right when I was going on stage.  In the play I was a teacher. I took the role seriously because if I did not think I was I was a proper teacher. I got to wear high heels because it made me taller than the other  actors and it made me feel like a teacher.
It is always a wonder to see the younger students do their play.  I think that the plays every year help us learn to act, us to build  community, and to have fun!

Fun Fair

Fun fair is the place to be.
It’s a time for friends and family.
There’s a petting zoo and face painting,
Homemade goods and games. Bounce houses and pony rides,
Music and laughter.
Fun fair is the place to be,
Don't you agree?

THE Fun Fair is coming up on May 11! Families can bring treats and goods from home and (If they want) can help set up the booths.
