SCFS Welcomes Annie Boggess as Interim Head of School

State College Friends School welcomes experienced Friends school educator and SCFS alumna Annie Boggess to lead the school during the 2023-2024 academic year. Boggess was hired by the school three years ago as its Director of Development and Alumni Relations and brings years of experience in the classroom, school administration, peace education, and Quaker advocacy for social justice to this new role.

“For over 20 years, I have seen SCFS guide students to discover the light within themselves and others, giving them the confidence and the essential skills to become engaged members of their communities and the world. I am looking forward to collaborating with our new Curriculum Coordinator, Joanne Thurston-Griswold, and our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Committee to strengthen the work our teachers and students do together each day. This is also an exciting time for our middle school as we expand our experiential learning program to include new field work opportunities locally and in Washington, DC,” says Boggess.

“The school has weathered the Covid years with heart and resilience and the Board is thrilled that Annie agreed to our invitation to lead us forward. She is the perfect person for our school at this pivotal moment,” says Miranda Kaye, Clerk of the SCFS Board of Trustees.
