Fun Fair and Family Fun Run

Come one, come all! State College Friends School is thrilled to announce the return of our beloved FUN FAIR after a six-year break! Get ready for a day of family-friendly fun with some of your favorite attractions from years past, plus exciting new traditions you won't want to miss. This is a free event, open to everyone, so bring the whole family and get ready to make new memories. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

Join the Family Fun Run!

On your mark, get set, GO! This year, we're kicking off the Fun Fair with a brand-new tradition: a Family Fun Run/Walk! Lace up your sneakers and join us for a refreshing jaunt through our beautiful neighborhood. After you cross the finish line, you can cool down and find your center with a calming Intergenerational Chi Gong class, then relax and enjoy the rest of the fair, complete with live music, carnival games, and food trucks. It's the perfect way to start a day of fall fun!

More than just a run, this event embodies our Quaker values of community, simplicity, and well-being. It’s a chance to connect with one another, enjoy the simple act of movement, and build a stronger, healthier community. All proceeds from the event will support the State College Friends School Annual Fund. Your participation helps make a meaningful difference for our students and our school.

Live Music

Laura Boswell, Musician

Laura exhibits a poetic and technical depth that has garnered comparisons to Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones, and Nick Drake. She writes intimate folk music with classical influence that has been described as meditative, transcendental, and within the "chamber-folk" genre (Asheville's Mountain Xpress). Along with being a singer-songwriter, Laura has a degree in classical guitar performance and studied piano from a young age. She views music as a bridge to human connection and vulnerability, as well as a powerful tool for fostering community. The multi-instrumentalist has self-released three albums, Counting Eyes (2014), Fall Away (2017), and WellSpring (2022) along with two EP's.

Eric Ian Farmer, Musician
Born in State College, Pennsylvania and raised in North Carolina, Eric Ian Farmer, a Black man with Blackfeet and Cherokee heritage, has returned to his birthplace sharing his songs about relationships, social awareness, and finding one's path in life while keeping alive classics by artists like Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, and Bob Marley.  Eric learned the practice of becoming one with a song from Bonnie Carter and David Williams, singers in the church of his childhood just across the North Carolina state line in Danville, Virginia.  A bass in tenor's clothing, Eric also draws inspiration as a singer from popular artists like Bobby McFerrin, Stevie Wonder, and Jimmy Hayes (The Persuasions).  And his guitar playing is inspired by the percussive stylings of rock legend Bo Diddley.
