State College Friends School Introduces New Head of School

We’re excited to share that Pierre Puget will be joining State College Friends School as our next Head of School starting July 1, 2025!

This decision came after a thoughtful and collaborative search process that included input from our entire school community—families, teachers, staff, middle school students, and trustees. A big thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts and trusted the search committee throughout this journey!

Pierre began his career as a teacher and quickly stepped into leadership roles. He brings a wealth of experience from independent schools across the globe—including France, Chile, Mauritius, and the U.S. Most recently, he was the Deputy Head at The Awty International School, a K-12 school in Houston, Texas. Pierre’s leadership style is all about open communication, teamwork, and putting students first. He’s also worked with schools as a consultant, helping them with everything from teaching practices and fundraising to strategic planning and brand development.

He holds a Bachelor in Engineering from Aix-Marseille University in France, along with certifications from the French Ministry of Education.

After years of working in larger schools, Pierre is looking forward to being part of a smaller community where he can have a more personal and meaningful impact on students’ lives. He’s especially excited to dive into Quaker education and feels a strong connection to the values of Friends schools. He shared how much he appreciates our focus on “intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and a commitment to peace,” as well as our dedication to creating a diverse and inclusive environment where all students feel respected and empowered.

We’re really looking forward to welcoming Pierre and his family into our community!
