Meet Frances

Frances’ passion for investigating the world with young children is guided by teaching in the mainland United States, Puerto Rico, China, and Italy, as an elementary English as a Second language teacher, outdoor nature program educator, and bilingual teacher. Her conviction that children have the right to be taken seriously, the space to investigate their curiosities, learning that embraces their linguistic and cultural backgrounds, and the opportunity to experiment, is rooted in the joy of parenting her two young children. Frances’ teaching practice is also enriched by work in teacher education and research at Penn State University, where she received a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction in 2020. Frances welcomes any opportunity to move learning outside the walls of the classroom. For fun, Frances loves to travel, garden, and visit museums. Most of her time outside of school is spent actively supporting her children at local soccer fields, pools, scouting events, and parks.
