As part of the Middle School Changemakers Project, students at SCFS are engaging with real-world issues through research, reflection, and action. Jaedolyn, one of this year’s Changemakers, chose to focus on workplace discrimination faced by members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Driven by a belief that everyone deserves equal opportunities, Jaedolyn began her project by researching employment protections and learning about the experiences of individuals who have faced discrimination in the workplace. Through this process, she developed a deeper understanding of the challenges many people encounter and the policies that aim to address them.
To share her learning and raise awareness, Jaedolyn created a series of posters along with a website that provides information about workplace discrimination and highlights the importance of equal protections under the law. Her project also encourages others to learn more about the Equality Act and consider ways they can support fairness and inclusion in professional environments.
Jaedolyn’s work reflects the core goals of the Changemakers Project, which emphasizes thoughtful research, civic engagement, and responsible participation in community conversations. By exploring a complex and important issue, she demonstrates how students can use their voices to inform others and contribute to meaningful dialogue.
We invite you to visit Jaedolyn’s website to learn more about her project and explore ways to support equal protections in the workplace.
