Summer Camp

Week 1: Animal Anatomy with Tr. Ryan

June 8th to June 12th

Wings fly, legs run, and teeth chomp—but how do these amazing animal parts actually work? During this week-long camp, Mr. Ryan will lead explorers through the fascinating world of animal anatomy. We’ll learn how wings lift animals into the air, how legs help them run, jump, and climb, and what makes teeth perfectly designed for chomping, tearing, or crunching.

Through hands-on crafts, creative building projects, and close observation of the animals around Friends School, campers will investigate how different body parts help animals move, eat, and survive. Join us for Animal Anatomy, a week full of curiosity, creativity, and discovery as we uncover how animal bodies work!

Week 2: A Journey Through Africa with Tr. Carrie

June 15th to June 18th (4 days)

Join us for an exciting week as we explore the continent of Africa. Friends will explore the colors, music, and culture of the south, east, west, north, and central countries of Africa. Masks, animals, kente cloth, hieroglyphics, traditional instruments, art, and games will bring Africa to life for our campers in this four-day summer camp. (No camp on Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.) Children will experience a fun, impactful, and beautiful sensory adventure through interacting with this incredible, vibrant continent.

Week 3: Dungeons & Dragons, Friends and the Fantastical with Tr. Daniel

June 22nd to June 26th

Collaborative storytelling is what friends do best! Express yourself by building your character and join a campaign rife with tricksters, carnivals, and enchanted forests, where nothing is as it seems. The children will learn strategic planning, resourcefulness, and work with their peers to move through the story where every roll of the dice affects what comes next. Through innovation and imagination, friends learn that the best way to tell stories is together!

Week 4: Comic Writing & Storytelling with Tr. Daniel & Tr. Haleigh

July 6th to July 10th

Superheroes and comic books are so influential in our society and now friends can get in on the fun! During this camp, friends will learn the structure, illustration, and arc of comic book storytelling, inspired by some of their favorite characters and their favorite ongoing series. With the opportunity to refine their work, children will be able to immerse themselves in the process of writing their own stories and placing them in comic format for anyone and everyone to enjoy!

Week 5: Clay & Ceramics with Tr. Carrie

July 13th to July 17th

Get ready to get your hands dirty and create amazing works of art in our Clay and Ceramics Summer Camp! Friends will learn the art of sculpting and shaping clay, from pinch pots to sculptures, while exploring different techniques like hand-building and glazing. Throughout the week, children will experiment with textures, colors, and designs to bring their clay creations to life. Each friend will create unique pottery and clay masterpieces, crafted with creativity and fun! Finished projects can be picked up at SCFS during the following week, Week 6.

Week 6: Young Actors Unite! with Tempest Productions

July 20th to July 24th

Curtain call! For this "creative drama" week, we will sing, dance, act, and play our way through stories and tales from all over the world. Campers will become dragons, monsters, fairies, queens, kings, knights, and anything you can imagine. We'll create our own adventures and use the creative arts to bring them to life. This week will be guided by our friends from Tempest Productions and the week will conclude with a special performance for everyone!

Week 7: Trash to Treasure with Tr. Carrie

July 27th to July 31st

Here, it’s all recycled materials, all day long! Over the week, campers will make sculptures, collages, and other art from various discarded materials, practicing artistic creation and tinkering while organically learning how to be considerate of waste (and when it doesn’t have to be). We’ll even make paper! It’s a week of upcycling - of making new, useful things out of old things - encouraging responsibility and stewardship while having a ton of creative fun together

Week 8: ASL: Talk with your hands! with Tr. Haleigh & Tr. Jody

August 3rd to August 7th

Get ready for a hands-on, high-energy ASL camp where you'll learn to communicate in a whole new way! Through games, songs, storytelling, and creative play, campers will build confidence while learning American Sign Language in a fun and welcoming environment. This camp sparks curiosity, empathy, and connection as children explore Deaf culture and expressive communication. No prior ASL experience needed—just a sense of adventure and a love of learning. Join us for a week of signing, laughing, and making new friends!
